George Nicolson were pleased to be awarded the external decoration package to East Suffolk Park, Newington by The Co-Proprietors of East Suffolk Park through their property factors, Ross & Liddell Ltd.
The East Suffolk Park development, which incorporates outbuildings such as bin stores, bike stores and garage buildings, covers seven residential buildings: Buchanan House, Carlyle House, Robertson House, Darroch House, Playfair House, Balfour House and Grierson House.
The replacement of decaying timber was completed by our joinery subcontractor, Hallbar Joinery Service Ltd. Decoration works encompassed the preparation and painting of woodwork such as the common entrance/basement doors, common windows, dormer windows, timber louvred double doors/frames, garage doors, timber fascias and soffits. The metal work to the cast iron gutters, down pipes. hand rails, railings, balconies, cellar hatches, louvred vents and sub-floor vent grilles required to be thoroughly prepared and redecorated. Furthermore, a liquid plastic overcoating system was applied to repair the leaking gutter joints.
Whilst low level decoration works were carried out by working off ladders, our trained tradespeople were required to use powered access equipment to enable them to work safely when undertaking the works to the high level areas.
Our onsite operatives liaised with the residents direct to complete the decoration of the private flat windows concurrently with the communal works. This large project was completed over a period of seven months with regular site meetings between our manager and members of the co-proprietors.
