George Nicolson were pleased to be asked by Ed Daynes, Director of Clachaig Inn & Clachaig Holidays, to undertake the refurbishment of Hawthorn Cottage, Glencoe.
The works mainly consisted of a sparkle refurbishment where 2 new pre- fabricated windows were fitted to where the patio doors previously existed. Internal harled walls that were left exposed from the previous extension works were plaster boarded over and blended into the smooth walled areas with new skirting’s, facings, cornices and doors. The bedrooms were all redecorated along with feature head boards and wall covering installed above each one. The cottage floor coverings were renewed, new light fittings along with minor electrical works were carried out and window and bed dressings brought in to bring an overall softer feel.
All works to Hawthorn Cottage, Glencoe were designed by Burns Interior Design Ltd of Clydebank. The works were completed below budget, within the programme and fulfilled in time for the new tourist season ahead.
Hawthorn Cottage is located at Riverbank Holiday Cottages, at the fringes of Glencoe village and is a bright and spacious property, sleeping up to 9 or 10 guests.
Typified by large windows, the cottage makes the most of the views of the surrounding scenery. The cottage is bounded on one side by a secluded section of the river Coe, a great place to sit and watch the varied wildlife. The magnificent mountains of Glencoe look almost close enough to touch, while the gardens and open field to the front provide a beautiful outlook on a sunny day. The National Trust for Scotland Visitor Centre is a pleasant short walk through the woods.
Glencoe is central for exploring the beautiful west coast of the Highlands of Scotland or local walking in Scotland’s most famous and scenic glen.
