As Principal Contractor, George Nicolsons, together with our sub-contract team, were pleased to be engaged by Greene King, and their direct contractors, to undertake a full refurbishment of The Auld Hoose, North Berwick.
Internally, the trading area, bar servery, gents WC, ladies WC and kitchen to the ground floor were stripped out and the required joinery works completed. The existing timber flooring was sanded down and resealed with the flooring and entrance matting being replaced. Following an electrical upgrade, new lighting was installed. New tiles were added to the WCs along with mechanical installations. Within the kitchen, alterations were made to allow the installation of new equipment. Decoration works to ceilings, walls and woodwork were completed throughout and to the manager’s accommodation.
Within the cellar, structural steel works were completed to upgrade the existing cellar areas and a new beer cellar was formed.
Externally, masonry and render repairs were undertaken. To enable safe working at height, the existing surfaces were decorated by our trained operatives off a fixed scaffold following receipt of the relevant permits from the Local Authority. Following completion of the roof survey, defective roof slates, coverings and flashing were replaced and additional outlets were formed.
Over a five week period, The Auld Hoose, North Berwick was fully transformed through the design and concept created by Melling, Ridgeway & Partners Ltd together with the team at Greene King and our team of subcontractors. The transformation of this popular pub was impressive.
