George Nicolson have historically proven our dedication to training for growth throughout the industry. We are pleased to once again promote Scottish Apprenticeship Week taking place between 4th and 8th March through our website and social media platforms.
Co-ordinated by Skills Development Scotland (SDS), the Scottish Apprenticeship Week campaign aims to encourage more employers to take on apprentices and to recognise the vital skills generated, as well as the value of work-based learning that apprenticeships bring to employers across the country.
For over 50 years, we have provided in excess of 100 Painting and Decorating Modern Apprenticeships to young people (based on policy of recruiting on average 2 apprentices per calendar year). Our existing framework ensures each young person has a pathway and the tools to graduate to become a qualified tradesperson.
George Nicolson strongly believes in training for growth throughout our workforce from office based members of staff to site staff, management and directors. The training undertaken covers a wide range of Health & Safety subjects such as Mental Health Awareness, IPAF, PASMA, SMSTS, SSSTS, SCORE and Medical First Aid but to name a few. We also ensure our operatives are kept up-to-date with any relevant changes in legislation through in-house Tool Box Talks.
Throughout 2024, we will continue to focus on the further training and development for all of our workforce. With 6 days of training completed so far this year, and a further 25 training days planned, both the employees and the company will continue to benefit from our ongoing investment.
Young people can be a vital part of any workforce through being ambitious, motivated and eager to learn. Get yourself behind Scottish Apprenticeships:
