George Nicolson are proud to have carried out a further principal contract project at St Columba’s Hospice Care, Edinburgh along with Stuart Walker and his facilities team.
Work encompassed the conversion of 2 no. three bedded rooms into 2 no. single rooms with a family room adjacent. The existing rooms had to be divided and the en-suites, wc’s and corridors altered to comply with building regulations whilst complimenting the altered rooms. The existing equipment and finishes were kept where possible or moved to accommodate the new layout. New finishes were manufactured and equipment ordered so the new areas perfectly blended in as if they had always been there.
Also involved in the project were our valued sub-contracting team of Hugh Fulton Electrical and Plumbing, Hallbar Joinery Services Ltd, Forth Furnishings Ltd, Lotus Group Scotland and J & M Interiors (Scotland) Ltd.
During a challenging time for everyone, carrying out these works and liaising with the various elements of the project through the Covid period involved close co-ordination and trust with everyone involved. The spaces have now become far more usable for the St Columba’s Hospice Care staff and management and all were very happy with the completed works.
St Columba’s Hospice Care provides hospice and end-of-life care for people with incurable illnesses and their families. COVID-19 has changed the way that we all live and work, but the Hospice Team continues to offer their services to those who need it most, no matter where they are across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
