The Cumberland Bar, Edinburgh

On behalf of D M Stewart Ltd, Rough design studio instructed George Nicolson to undertake the decorating works to The Cumberland Bar, Edinburgh.

With the assistance of our Principal Contract Team, building works were completed by P&M Sinclair Ltd with the joinery works undertaken by Hallbar Joinery Services Ltd. All areas were stripped out, with seating, screens, flooring and artwork removed. Furthermore, the brick built fireplace was carefully removed along with the existing fans, vents and boxing. Whilst retaining the ceiling chandelier, new LED decorative dimmable lights were added to enable an evening glow when required.  As well as the installation of a new fixed seating section through LECS Upholstery Ltd, a mix of white and black honed marble tiles were laid diagonally to the floor with a solid coloured border by Euan Ireland Tiling. The walls, ceilings, cornices, columns, woodwork and doors were prepared and decorated as per the client’s specification.  George Nicolson also liaised with the client’s direct contractors to ensure the smooth running of works for the duration of the project. The combination of these elements completely transformed the rear area of The Cumberland Bar.

Nestled in the residential streets of Edinburgh’s Georgian New Town, The Cumberland Bar offers the finest real ales, wines, spirits and delicious food in welcoming wood panelled surroundings as well as offering a secluded beer garden that is unique to the New Town.
