As Principal Contractor, George Nicolsons, together with our sub-contract team, were pleased to be engaged by Greene King, and their direct contractors, to undertake a full refurbishment and redecoration of The Scottish Engineer, Edinburgh.
Internally, screens were removed and relocated. Alterations were completed to the gantry. New kitchen equipment, lighting, fixed seating and floor finishes were installed following the minor alterations to the layout. The toilets also received a minor refurbishment. Furthermore, there were minor repairs to the domestic kitchen and bathroom. The accommodation was also redecorated.
Externally, new signage was installed following the decoration of walls, woodwork and metalwork. In addition, a new covered pergola with T.V. was specifically introduced for the sports enthusiasts.
Over a three week period, The Scottish Engineer, Edinburgh was fully transformed through the design and concept created by CSY Architects Ltd, Kirkcaldy together with the team at Greene King. The investment has greatly improved the customer experience whilst maintaining the pub’s traditional charm with the expansion and enhancement of the current sports area.
The Scottish Engineer, located in the north of Edinburgh, offers a modern pub setting that has been a community focal point for many years. The pub comprises of two main areas: the bar and sports area and a lounge area more focused on dining. The bar area is adorned with four televisions, pool table and darts area making it a popular spot to enjoy live horse racing and football matches while playing traditional pub games. The lounge and dining areas are perfectly setup for enjoying all day dining with classic Scottish pub food available.
