George Nicolson were pleased to be instructed to undertake extensive external decoration works to Priestfield Church, Edinburgh.
Following receipt of the local authority Temporary Traffic Regulation Order and relevant permits, our trained operatives were required to work safely off a mobile elevated working platform to reach high level working areas. Furthermore, a fixed scaffold was erected to enable decoration works to the elevations where powered access machines could not be used.
Our skilled operatives prepared and decorated the windows to all elevations. The perished putty was removed and replaced, loose paint scraped off, bare woodwork primed, prepared, touched up, undercoated and finished with a top coat.
The previously stained door, facing and fanlight was also prepared and sanded down with 2 coats of wood preservative being applied.
The rainwater goods to all elevations (excluding 2 no. towers), perimeter railings and gates were prepared by scrapping off loose and flaking paint, wire brushing any rust, spot priming and applying 2 top coats.
Our Site Manager and operatives regularly liaised with Property Group members to ensure they were kept up-to-date for the duration of the project.
We would like to share a testimonial received from the Property Group:
“Priestfield Church employed George Nicolson to redecorate the outside of the building including much at a high level and extended lengths of iron railings. We were very pleased with the way Nicolson’s dealt with the project, from beginning to end. During the pre-contract discussions it was clear that the company was doing its best to avoid unnecessary costs associated with high level access and council road consent processes. They kept us fully informed at all stages. When work on site commenced it was clear that they ran a very well organised and tidy site. This ensured that good relations with our neighbours were maintained. They provided an appropriate level of manpower and the work was completed without any undue delays. Operatives were always friendly, helpful and polite and the quality of the workmanship was very good. We would certainly consider using Nicolson’s again and would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.”
